Group life assuranceA lump sum will be paid in respect of eligible employees who die in service before age 65.
The lump sum is as follows: for all staff, an amount equal to two years' annual rate of pay, including any contractual payments, i.e. contractual overtime, shift allowance, etc, in force at date of death, subject to a minimum of £5,000.
Staff of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport will be eligible provided they satisfy the following conditions:
- They are under 65 and hold a permanent appointment;
- If they hold a temporary appointment where their contract of employment is for at least one year or more;
- Temporary employees whose contracts are initially for less than one year will qualify once they have accrued 12 months' continuous service.
Childcare vouchersThe Childcare vouchers scheme is available to employees to help pay for approved/registered childcare and this includes children up to the age of 15.
This is a salary sacrifice scheme, where a portion of your salary is deducted and transferred into Childcare vouchers. The cash deducted from your salary is exempt of tax and National Insurance contributions.

Rail, bus and Subway concessionsOn commencing employment, all employees are issued with a Subway Travel Pass which entitles them to travel on the Glasgow Subway free of charge.
All permanent employees can also purchase a ScotRail Annual Season Ticket. This allows employees to travel on ScotRail services and the supported rail network between stations serving their normal residence and place of work at half price. However, there is a maximum discount of £300 for tickets costing more than £600.
Employees can also apply for a similar payroll deduction facility to purchase at normal prices an annual Bus/Multi-Modal Season Ticket.

Many of our employees join the Strathclyde Pension Scheme as soon as they start work with SPT.
