Homecoming Scotland 2009 - Welcome
Welcome to Strathclyde Partnership for Transport's website section celebrating Homecoming Scotland 2009.
We're celebrating all things Scottish as we mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of national bard Robert Burns.
In this section you can find out what we're doing as part of our support of Homecoming Scotland 2009.
Here are just a few examples of SPT activities:
- Highland dancers will be performing at Buchanan bus station over the weekend of 24-25 January;
- Our customer service staff will be sporting specially-commissioned tartan ties and cravats this year;
- A Glasgow Subway carriage is carrying a vinyl wrap showing Burns in a new and very modern light;
- A poetry competition run by Subway poet-in-residence John Rice will encourage children to pen their own verse.
Homecoming Scotland 2009 is a Scottish Government initiative celebrating Scotland's contribution to the world and is expected to be a big tourist draw for the nation.
