Football fans advised to travel early to Ibrox
SPT warns of busy night on the Subway
Rangers' football fans using the Subway to get to Wednesday's (12 December) match with Lyon are being advised to allow plenty of time for the journey to Ibrox.
SPT has warned of a very busy night on the Subway with football fans travelling to the Champions League match and Christmas shoppers in the city centre. To prevent overcrowding and anti-social behaviour on trains, Subway staff will be supported by officers from the British Transport Police and Strathclyde Police. A new queuing system has also been put in place at Buchanan Street Station to improve efficiency.
Director of Subway Operations at SPT, David Wallace said, "We would advise all fans travelling to Ibrox on Wednesday to leave plenty of time for their journey. We also realise that Christmas shopping will be in full flow and would advise all late-night shoppers that the best time to travel home on the Subway would be after kick-off at 7.45pm.
"We want to make sure fans have a safe and comfortable journey. For this reason, we would ask fans planning to attend the game to travel early."
